Chat Moss

Chat Moss comprises some 30% of Salford. Within its 2750 hectares, it comprises the largest area of Grade 1 and 2 farmland in Greater Manchester and contains the largest block of semi natural woodland in Greater Manchester. It is also the source of significant wildlife interest. Home to a wealth of farmland birds, it also contains remnants of lowland bog habitat. This rare and declining habitat can only be found on peat substrates and Salford City Council is seeking to restore areas of existing peat working to wet mossland.
Chat Moss Herbs offer fresh and flavoursome herbs, salad leaves, infused oils and pestos which are being enjoyed by a growing number of satisfied customers throughout the UK including restaurants, bakeries, retail shops and markets. Using the very finest produce from local farmers and international suppliers the flavour is evident in the freshness.
