Rochdale’s a district which is full of surprises. Stretching 12 miles from the low-lying Manchester Plain to the high Pennine moors, and with 60% of its area being green space there’s a countryside style for all tastes.
In just 20 minutes by train from Manchester Victoria, or 2 minutes from M62 junctions 19 to 21, you’ll be surrounded by stunning scenery. Ideal for outdoor activities or relaxing in a quiet B&B. There are country walks and cycle paths for all abilities, from easy canal and lakeside strolls to rugged moorland routes, and water-based activities too.
To add to Rochdale’s countryside there’s also a rich history. The modern co-operative movement started here in 1844 when Rochdale was a cotton town, and our lively museums will tell you those stories.
Small stone-built towns and villages add a charm to the area, and the quality-graded visitor accommodation, from B&Bs and inns to caravan parks, self catering and hotels, means you can make the most of your stay.
