Join the ghosts for a great day out at Smithills Hall
17th May 2010
Set in 2,200 acres of woodland, on the edge of the Pennine Moors, Smithills Hall is one of the oldest and best preserved manor houses in the North West.
This summer, we’ve a fantastic range of events for all ages. Highlights include a Craft Fair, a Family Garden Party, father’s day treats, and a special Merlin Day. If nature’s your thing, there’s a Moth Morning and evening Bat Hunts. Its also free entry for all to Smithills Hall museum throughout August (this does not include special events).
Smithills isn’t just famous for its beauty. The atmosphere in the building and its long history seems to inspire many ghost stories. These includes sightings of strange figures, children playing when there’s no one in the building, cats meowing when there are no cats around, swinging barrier ropes, objects moving or turning upside down, and strange noises. Keep your eyes and ears open next time you visit, and why not book you and your family and friends on a Ghost Tour, led by the Friends of Smithills Hall?
See for yourself where some of the strange sightings have taken place. If you’re even more daring, come along to one of our Ghost Investigations, and take part in supernatural experiments throughout the night. Please visit our website – www.boltonmuseums.org.uk for more details on events, history of the hall and opening hours.
If you are a paranormal investigation company and you would like to hire the venue for an evening; please let us know and we’ll do our very best to accommodate you.
Charges are currently £600 for a 6 hour slot. Contact Smithills Hall on 01204 332377 or email smithills@bolton.gov.uk
