Littleborough’s new Farmers’ Market & Craft Fair Launches for 2011
7th March 2011
After a trial in the autumn of 2010, Littleborough Farmers' Market has proved popular enough to open once a month in 2011, on the second Sunday of each month until November. The market will be held in Peel Street, Littleborough, near Rochdale, from 10am to 3pm, and will be selling local produce. Liam Bell will be selling meat from his own farm in the area. Local farm New Street Farm Shop will also be there selling a fantastic range of meat and veg - the carrots having been pulled out of the ground on the morning of the market.
Other food stalls come from Todmorden, Clitheroe and other nearby towns. Items on sale include: Home-grown vegetables, home-made pies and chutneys, home-made jams, meat, cheese, cakes, flowers, jewellery, soaps, and books.
The craft fair is full of local traders from Littleborough, Wardle, Castleton, Rochdale, selling hand crafted items, alongside a couple of stalls that are local shops selling their usual wares.
After a trip to the market, Littleborough is an ideal town for a wander, with small independent shops set in a typical stone-built Pennine market town, and plenty of places to eat and drink for lunch or afternoon tea. And don’t forget nearby Hollingworth Lake for a gentle walk or to watch the windsurfers and dinghy sailors.
The market is easy to find in Littleborough town centre, just off the A58 Rochdale to Halifax Road, and only 100 yards from the train and bus stations.
